Apple unveiled Project Catalyst in June at WWDC. Apple Apple's efforts to bring iPad apps to the Mac are beginning to pay off, but there's still a long way to go before Mac users are able to find. When you’re running a drive cleanup, you might find that the files that take up the most space on your Mac are actually quite important to you. Large video files and huge image folders, 3D projects or movie renders, all kinds of important and increasingly megabyte-hungry items.
You know there are hidden programs running in the background on your computer but you can’t see them. There is no icon in the task bar showing that they are running so where are they?
The more programs you have running on your computer at the same time, hidden or not, the more likely it is that your computer will have problems running to its optimum standards. There are the programs that start when you simply start your computer and there are programs that you started but now can’t see or re-open as it is in fact open already. These hidden programs running in the background can really add up and slow your computer down.
There is no doubt that turning off some of these hidden programs can significantly increase your computer’s performance and reliability.
Open The Windows Task Manager
One way to see if there are programs running in the background is to open the task manager on your computer. Photo editing apps for mac reviews. When using most Windows operating systems you only need to hit CTRL ALT DEL on the keyboard to open task manager.
After task manager opens you will see various tabs to choose from. In this case the processes tab and the applications tab might help you find hidden programs running in the background on your computer. It is not easy though, as the some small programs show as processes and others as full applications.

Have you ever heard of disabling startup programs as a way to speed up your computer? These are the true hidden programs running in the background on your computer. Some of these programs don’t need to be running in the background and can cause your computer to run slower than usual.

Is your Mac up to date with the latest version of the Mac operating system (macOS or OS X)? Is it using the version that is required by some other product you want to use with your Mac? Which versions are earlier (older) or later (newer, more recent)? To find out, check which version is installed now.
If your macOS isn't up to date, you may be able to update to a later version. Make a menu for home.
Which macOS version is installed?
From the Apple menu in the corner of your screen, choose About This Mac. You should see the macOS name, such as macOS Mojave, followed by its version number. If you need to know the build number as well, click the version number to see it.

Which macOS version is the latest one?
These are all Mac operating systems, starting with the most recent. When a major new macOS is released, it gets a new name, such as macOS Catalina. As updates that change the macOS version number become available, this article will be updated to show the latest version of that macOS.
If your Mac is using an earlier version of any Mac operating system, you should install the latest Apple software updates, which can include important security updates and updates for the apps that are installed by macOS, such as Safari, Books, Messages, Mail, Music, Calendar and Photos.
